Beer Goddess Ski Parade
Story and pictures by Stacy

Once
again the weather on the Knob was beautiful and clear. It was a
great turnout for the Beer Goddess Ski Parade…but what on earth is
that? I went searching….
It seems that Kim Forshey, other ski instructors and ski patrollers
at Blue Knob All Seasons Resort had a party one day and were
brainstorming on fun things to do at the Knob for an end of season
bash. One idea led to another and the “Beer Goddess Ski Parade” was
born. All decided that Kim should be the first Beer Goddess for
that year’s parade. This year, Jody Tussey was the lucky lady to be
crowned “Beer Goddess” and rode a beer keg down the slope – how’d
that feel Jody?
Skiers and snowboarders – and canoers? – dress up in their flashy
costumes and headed down the “Upper Route 66” slope in a parade of
color. It’s quite a spectacle to see!
The costumes were great! Cliff Ake was an injured skier on a
med-sled…is that bad carma?; Curt Gearhart was a canoer…watching him
slide down the slope in his homemade canoe was something you just
have to see; Bobbi Yoder was dressed in a long, flowing black gown…
is there a runner-up Goddess?; Cindy Rabold was adorned in a pink
flamingo outfit…you look fabulous in pink Cindy; and how could we
forget Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb - Doug Coffman and Ron Yoder -
hysterical! Several other costumes added much color and excitement
to the white slopes of Blue Knob and we just happened to have a few
shots for you to enjoy. Click here to see pics.*
Mid-way down “Upper Route 66” you can find the “Mountain Oasis”
where everyone gathers to eat, drink and be merry. The “Mountain
Oasis” deck provides warmth by a fire for the parade participants
and anyone else that wants a burger and a beer.
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb organized a golf drop from the ski
lift. Contestants took the lift which glides above a makeshift golf
course. Contestants drop their golf balls trying to hit one of
three bull’s eyes. Funds collected from the game go towards new
features at the Knob. This year they will go towards the “Terrain
Park”.
Keep your eye on the Blue Knob website to catch this fun event next
year. Costumes and new parade ideas encouraged!
