Big Air Contest
Story and pictures by Stacy

The day was sunny, the snow was great and the music
filled the hills of Blue Knob Ski Resort. The 2nd annual
Big Air Contest went on without a hitch.
On “The Playground”
slope the festivities were stirring as the free-style riders
anticipated the Big Air Contest. Troy McMullen and Matt Schmid,
both snowboard instructors for youth and adults at Blue Knob Ski
Resort, organized the event with 37 anxious contestants.
Judges Kevin Randall,
Jesse “James” Hoffman and Morey Lawruk observed the difficulty,
style, height, and landing of the free-style riders as they took
“The Playground” slope to show their stuff.
The contest was broken
down into five divisions with first, second and third place
winners. First place winners for each division are as follows: 16
and older Men’s Snowboarding was taken by Adam Russell; 16 and older
Men’s Ski was taken by Christian Condrick; Women’s ski was taken by
Jess Fleegle; 15 and under Men’s Ski was taken by Clayton Barkman;
and 15 and under Men’s Snowboarding was taken by Kasten Tussay.
Blue Knob All Seasons
Resort owners, Jim and Suzy Gauthier were present to enjoy the slope
action along with many friends and families of the jumpers and other
ski enthusiasts.
We’d like to
congratulate all Big Air winners and thank all contestants and fans
